Funchal Cruise F70
There is no better or more affordable way to explore Japan
than on your Funchal cruise.
With your cruise beginning in Hong Kong you have the
opportunity to discover the charms and character of this
unique city known for both its back street markets and
cosmopolitan shopping centres. With two full days and an
overnight in Tokyo there is plenty of time to experience
both the night life and the many varied sights of the
nation’s capital and her surrounds. An optional tour to Mt
Fuji will take you to the very heart of Japan discovering her
natural beauty and distinctive culture on the way.
Shimizu is one of Japans most beautiful ports with Mt Fuji
as a back drop. Nagoya is the fourth largest city in Japan
and famous for its castle which was completed in around
1612. In 1945 it was completely destroyed by fire during the
Second World War, but was rebuilt in 1959. It is adorned by
two golden dolphins located on the roof. Next on to Kobe
where there is a full day to take in the sights or perhaps
take an optional tour to Kyoto or Osaka.
Finally, Kagoshima which is often compared to Naples
sharing a similar climate and overshadowed by Sakurajima
Volcano.
Why not combine this cruise with the following
cruise to China to complement your holiday.

Funchal Cruise F71
China has always held a special fascination and mysticism.
With its ancient traditions and culture stretching
back thousands of years to its recent burst onto the
international stage with ultra modern buildings and
technology, China is truly one of the most magical
destinations to visit today.
Shanghai is known for its great shopping deals in Nanjing
Road or perhaps you would prefer a more cultural
experience. Take a step back in time and visit Zhujiajiao
Water Village. Small rivers with willow trees planted along
both sides quietly criss-cross the town. Stone bridges
span the rivers and on both banks are narrow streets
and alleyways paved with gray stone slabs and rows of
houses. With two full days in Shanghai there is plenty of
time to shop and experience both the new and old the
city has to offer.
On to Xiangang where an optional tour to Beijing is a
must. Visit the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square
or with two days in port you may also want to take an
optional tour to The Great Wall.
Why not combine this
cruise with the following cruise featuring four ports in
Vietnam and an extended stay in Ho Chi Minh City?

Funchal Cruise F72
Discover Vietnam on this magical trip from Hong Kong
to Singapore. First port is Ha Long Bay and with its
thousands of limestone islets is consider by many to
be one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in
Vietnam. Beauty however is not confined to Ha Long
Bay.
Da Nang is picturesquely situated on the Han River
surrounded by mountains on one side and the East
Sea on the other. Originally a small fishing village it
has grown to an important port and is now the fourth
largest city in Vietnam. Nha Trang now a popular resort
town known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise
waters and rocky outcrops was once the ancient cultural
centre of the Champa Dynasty.
An extended stay in
Ho Chi Minh City affords plenty of opportunities to
discover the city and her surrounds. A trip to the Cu
Chi Tunnels or the Mekong Delta are just some of the
optional tours on offer.

Funchal Cruise F73
Set sail on one of the truly magnificent blue ocean voyages when
Funchal departs Singapore for the United Kingdom. If you have never
visited Singapore the Lion City is a vibrant city that will fascinate you,
so why not spend a couple of days there before sailing on Funchal.
Phuket the ever popular resort town is Funchal’s first port of call
and after a wonderful time exploring the sights and shopping for
those bargains you will deserve that cold drink from the Pool Deck
of Funchal as you sail from Phuket to the stunning Maldives. This
beautiful paradise awaits, why not undertake a tour flying over the
Maldives.
Funchal then heads towards Salalah in Oman. Salalah was very popular
with guests when Athena called in April 2010. The friendly people and
the cleanliness of the city added to the experience of one of the
finest examples of Persian culture and lifestyle.
Your next port of call is
Aqaba in Jordon where it will allow you the opportunity to visit Petra
on one of the optional shore tours that have been arranged.
Funchal then transits the Suez Canal an experience that you will never
forgot. That evening Funchal will berth overnight in the Egyptian city
of Port Said. This will allow you early the next morning to have the
opportunity to purchase a shore tour to the Egyptian Pyramids, truly a
magnificent site.
You will cruise the Mediterranean Sea to the island of Malta and one
of the worlds beautiful harbours, the port city of Valletta.
The splendid city of Rome awaits you with all its magnificent beauty
and history. Don’t forget to see the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain and a
visit to the Vatican is a must.
Gibraltar is the next port of call before you reach the Portuguese
capital of Lisbon and then onto the United Kingdom arriving mid May,
ready for the Northern Hemisphere summer.
